Comprehensive Emergency Notification
In many situations such as active shooter incidents, time is of the essence. According to a recently released FBI study on active shooter incidents in the U.S., 60% of active shooter scenarios ended before police arrived. This means that notification coverage and timeliness are crucial when it comes to getting an emergency alert out to individuals, and it is important for organizations to consider a comprehensive emergency notification system that can reach all personnel both quickly and easily.
Alertus provides comprehensive notification coverage that uses a variety of alerting methods to overcome obstacles that may prevent individuals from receiving an emergency alert. For example, SMS alerting, which sends an emergency message via text and phone, is one option, but that alone is not necessarily sufficient. Users must first opt in to the alerting service; opt-in rates for these types of apps are historically low. In addition, recipients must have their phones on and check them regularly for SMS alerting to be effective. Alertus provides an innovative solution that provides overlapping coverage through multiple communication channels for sending and receiving an emergency alert.
Integration
The Alertus emergency notification system was designed with integration in mind. Whether organizations have an emergency notification system already in place with the intention to expand or are considering longer-term future additions, Alertus can help. We provide a system that integrates seamlessly with your existing infrastructure (i.e., desktop computers, public address systems, and outdoor notification speakers) to provide a cohesive, cost effective solution. The Alertus System is also an affordable option for retrofitting buildings with reliable emergency communications.
Alertus partners with many well-known emergency notification systems to compliment existing recipient notification systems for single-step activation. We also support FEMA’s Common Alerting Protocol (CAP) and our system is interoperable with the organization’s Integrated Public Alert Warning System (IPAWS).
Code Compliance
Alertus is widely recognized for its innovative emergency notification assistive technologies serving individuals with disabilities, including those who are deaf or hard of hearing. The Alertus System provides both audible and visible alerts, making it compliant with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). Alertus is also compliant with a number of other mass notification codes and mandates, including but not limited to the Clery Act, Higher Education Opportunity Act (HEOA), National Fire Alarm and Signaling Code (NFPA 72), Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act, and Unified Facilities Criteria.
