In 2001, an F3 tornado ripped through the University of Maryland campus. There was no warning, and two students—sisters—were killed. The tornado caused dozens of injuries and millions of dollars in damages.

An idea was born to engineer a mass notification solution that can be implemented anywhere and activated quickly to help prevent another tragedy. Alertus was founded in 2002 and has focused its efforts on developing superior life-saving notification solutions ever since.

Our technology is state-of-the-art, with interoperable software solutions that help tie legacy systems into our next-generation audible and visual notification hardware.

Jason Volk, CEO

Jason Volk is the Founder and CEO of Alertus Technologies. In this role, he has overseen the strategy, operations, and growth of Alertus Technologies from its inception to a leading unified mass notification solution today trusted by 2,500+ campuses, multinational corporations, major hospital systems, governments, and critical infrastructure. In 2002, Alertus Technologies was born and Jason began his quest to revolutionize the industry of emergency mass notification and develop life-saving emergency solutions for people and organizations all over the world. Jason has made it his life’s work to be an innovator in the mass emergency notification industry. His dedication to this industry directly impacts the well-being of people everywhere by being the industry-leading force behind life-saving technology that makes emergency communication possible within seconds.

Jason earned his Bachelor of Science magna cum laude, Master of Science, and M.B.A. from the University of Maryland, College Park.
